St Catherine’s Church, Towersey

St Catherine’s Towersey is part of Thame Church. We are a friendly and welcoming community meeting at St Catherine’s Church, which is situated at the heart of the quiet, picturesque village of Towersey – just two miles from the centre of Thame.

In 2018 the building benefited from a major refurbishment and repair project, which restored the fabric and added new facilities for a wide range of new uses. A flexible space was opened up at the back of church a new servery was added, increasing the range of possible uses for the church. The building is open daily for prayer and reflection, for the benefit of villagers and passing visitors alike.

Services

We hold monthly services in church at 9.30am on the third Sunday of each month. There is a balance between services of Morning Worship and Holy Communion through the course of the year. Sometimes these services will include Holy Baptism.

Additional morning services are held at St Catherine’s at key times of the year such as Christmas, Easter and Remembrance Sunday.

Weddings

St Catherine’s Towersey offers a delightful and popular setting for a traditional village wedding. You can marry in a Church of England church if you can show that the bride or groom has a qualifying connection to the parish.

May Festival

One of the key events of the year in Towersey is our May Festival, held on the Sunday before the May Day Bank Holiday. This features a short family service on the village green, followed by May Pole dancing and stalls and BBQ.

Church Fete

The highlight of the summer is the Church Fete at Towersey Manor. This quintessentially English fete grows in popularity every year with attractions for every age, from strolling round the beautiful gardens to running down the track in our popular children races.
